Jack White and his team at Third Man Records seem a perfect fit for this kind of sound. As such, they’ve teamed up with Gamechanger Audio to deliver the Third Man Records Plasma Coil octave fuzz stompbox.

With the Plasma Coil from Third Man Records and Gamechanger Audio, you can harness the power high-voltage electricity to create fuzz like no other.

The new pedal is based on the original Plasma from Gamechanger Audio. Here’s how the company describes how they produce their unique brand of distortion:

“Instead of using LED circuits, transistors or vacuum tubes to produce overdrive, the PLASMA PEDAL transforms your instrument’s live signal into a series of continuous high-voltage discharges within a xenon-filled tube.”

The electrical charges that are created are then instantly converted back to analog audio signal, creating an extreme level of distortion.

The Plasma Coil does add its own flavour to this winning formula though. Multiple octave circuits – two subharmonic and one upper harmonic) are added to conjure up a tone that surely had a helping hand from Jack White himself.

Also, the blend control has been removed in the Third Man version – it’s all or nothing!
