Modal Electronics has just announced the Argon8, a wavetable digital synthesizer brimming with features.
The 37-key 8-voice polyphonic synth builds on some of the tech from their flagship Modal products, all in a package which is attractively affordable.
Modal Electronics announce Argon8, an affordable new polyphonic wavetable synthesizer which includes the best of Modal and more.
Some of the features of the Argon8 include 120 carefully crafted wavetables split into 24 banks of 5 morphable waveform sets, covering virtual analogue classics through to cutting edge EDM, with 28 static wavetable processors allowing for a “mind-boggling” array of permutations and new waveshapes. The synth also features 32 high-resolution wavetable oscillators, 4 per voice, with 8 types of oscillator modifier including: Phase Mod (FM), Ring Mod, Amp Mod, Hard Sync and Windowed Sync.
Just a handful of the other features boasted by the new synth include 500 fully-editable patch memories, analogue clock sync in and out, a real-time sequencer with 512 steps and a huge modulation matrix with eight assignable slots that can be controlled with a joystick – because who doesn’t love a joystick?
The Argon8 has class-compliant USB MIDI connection allowing for use in a range of desktop setups, as well as VST3 and AU compatibility for use with DAWs.
The synth is going for about $1,000 AUD and scheduled for release sometime before Christmas.
