Korg has released some major updates to the Minilogue and Monologue keyboards, with firmware that’s making them a little closer to each other in terms of features.
Version 2.0 firmware focuses on display and sequencer tweaks, while bringing microtuning to the Minilogue. The system updates, available as free downloads, include new features, general improvements, and bug fixes.
Korg has released version 2.0 firmware for the Minilogue and Monologue, giving the two popular synths some major updates, all available to download for free.
The new Minilogue firmware brings the highly requested microtuning features as on the Minilogue XD and the Monologue, as well as a display upgrade similar to that of the XD. There’s also a new slider range parameter, as well as increased MIDI filter granularity and support for MIDI set position messages. There’s also now support for the Key-trig feature as there is on the Monologue. The update has also dealt with a few other bugs and small technical issues.
The sequencer is also getting a much-needed refresh, in particular on the motion side which controls the parameters and settings rather than notes. All in all, the update smooths out the Minilogue’s existing features, while lessening the differences between it and the Monologue and other later models.
The Sound Librarian also gets an update to version 1.10 to support the microtuning and a few other bug fixes.
The Monologue is getting some similar tweaks, including the MIDI filter granularity and MIDI set position message support. It already had microtuning but is now getting a number of presets from the XD. The slider range parameter gets an added feature to turn off the scope, and the sequencer gets a support for active step feature. Lastly, both of the synths are getting original value indicators, making it easier to find your way back to where a patch started.
This also bumps the Sound Librarian up to version 1.1 in order to support the updates.
Version 2.0 of the Minilogue and Monologue firmware is available today for free via the Korg website.
