The iconic sounds of Vangelis

If you’re one of the many synth-heads that can’t get enough of the Blade Runner soundtrack, then you’ll probably love The Iconic Sounds of Vangelis.

Greek composer and musician Vangelis is known for creating some of the most mesmerising film scores in history. Over the years he has formed some truly beautiful tracks with his mastery of analogue synth sound-design, a case example being the original Blade Runner soundtrack.

But to recreate the iconic tones, you’d need some rare old gear, namely the Yamaha CS-80, not to mention the know-how to make it all sound good. Luckily, Synthcloud has done the hard work for you, with a custom library of 25 timbres for the Roland System-8 plug-out synthesizer, making it a whole lot easier to lay down some Blade Runner ‘replicants’.

Some of the patches include ‘BladeRunBlues’, ‘BladeRunBR’ named after tracks in the film’s soundtrack album itself. The pack has other instrument sounds from Vangelis’ career, including brasses, flutes and even sequencer patches.

There are two formats of the library available, one for the hardware System-8 and the other compatible with Roland Cloud’s software version of the synth.

For more information head on over to the Synthonia website.
