In the latest from the Alternate Reality series, Fender took inspiration from an icon of the bass world. The Sixty-Six model shrinks down the Jazz bass and adds two extra strings.
The Fender Sixty-Six is the latest in the Alternate Reality series. It’s inspired by the classic silhouette of the Jazz bass.
The name for the model comes from a blend of two significant numbers. Sixty – 1960 being the year that the Fender Jazz bass was born and six – for the amount of strings on this new model.
Anyone familiar with the bass will recognise the sleek offset body and the finer details, including the chrome control plate and knobs.
From then on though, it carves out its own character. It’s fitted with a humbucker and two Telecaster single coil pickups for a broad range of tonal possibilities. You can select different pickup configurations with the 5-way blade switch
It has a vintage style synchronised tremolo system and tuning machines, with a modern C shaped neck with 22 medium-jumbo frets.
