EarthQuaker Devices have been in fine form of late, and they’ve continued their hot streak with the deep but deceptively simple Aqueduct vibrato pedal.
The front panel of the pedal couldn’t be more user friendly, with a customary vibrato controls for rate and depth.
The mode knob contributes a synthetic touch, with waveshapes including sine, triangle, ramp, square and random, which the makers describe as, “…a drunken master of modulation who slurs your notes into an unpredictable assortment of greasy pitch-bends before disappearing at last call and leaving you stuck with the tab.”
The Env-R mode controls the speed of the modulation according the attack of the guitar pick, while the Env-P has been dubbed “The My Bloody Valentine setting” by EarthQuaker Devices links the pick attack to the frequency modulation.
Nels Cline of Wilco, Kelley Deal of the Breeders and Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth have also been enlisted to expound on the Aqueduct’s virtues.
