Death by Audio are well known for making pedals that are like nothing else out there and this week the company has revealed a successor to their first ever release, the Total Sonic Annihilation, which launched way back in 2002.

The stompbox, which Death by Audio has touted is the “most insane pedal of all time”, works by creating feedback loops with other pedals on the board through its own effects loop, basically causing pedals to cycle back into themselves. You can feed the output back into the input a lot or a little bit, creating a very controllable feedback loop that pretty much sounds like nothing else out there.

“The TSA2, like its predecessor, works on a simple premise: what if effect pedals were patched back into themselves? What does it sound like for a filter to be multiplied by infinity? Or if your modulator was modulating its own modulations?” states Death By Audio.

Death by Audio has revealed a follow-up to their first ever pedal, which they claim is the “most insane pedal of all time,” the Total Sonic Annihilation 2.

Like it’s predecessor the TSA2 can get pretty crazy, but luckily the new version comes with a host of new controls to help make the chaos a touch more tamable and pinch more usable.

The new rendition adds an active boost circuit, as well as a phase flipper which makes the TSA2 more compatible with different types of pedals. It also comes with a limiter to reign in the absolute madness that this little box can produce.

So what kind of madness are we talking about here? Well, in Death By Audios on words, “Boosters turn to alien fuzz breakers, delays build up to insanity, tremolos arpeggiate, and every effect in the loop gets juiced up and turned into something new and probably explosive. It even works as a bad-ass fuzz synth oscillator all on its own!”

This is definitely a bit of kit that will be up any noise or experimentalist’s dark and twisted alley.
