It’s August 8th… which means it’s 808 day; a whole day for gear heads from all over the world to celebrate the legendary Roland TR-808 drum machine.
Today, in celebration of this glorious piece of equipment, Roland have released a new video discussing the making of the 2015 808 documentary.
In celebration of 808 Day, Roland have released a new one-minute video discussing the making of the 2015 documentary 808.
Directed by Alexander Dunn, the film originally premiered at SXSW in March of 2015.
Simply titled 808, the doco was narrated by Zane Lowe and features appearances from Afrika Bambaataa, Damon Albarn, Beastie Boys, Rick Rubin, Phil Collins, and a whole heap of others.
The new ‘making of’ video features an interview with the film’s executive producer Alex Noyer.
“When the idea came to make this movie, we couldn’t even fathom that a little indie doc about the 808 drum machine would be so anticipated,” Noyer says of the film.
“We knew that out purpose in making this movie was to discover and tell a story.”
Just last week, Roland teamed with Puma to announce a new sneaker range, adopting the style and colour scheme of the 808.
