Making beats, controlling MIDI and creating music while improving your hand-eye coordination – Oddball is a Kickstarter project that offers a new way to produce music.
Oddball invites you to take a physical approach to making music. Combined with an app, the bouncing ball triggers percussion and controls MIDI.
The developers of the device say that, “Every time you bounce it off a surface, sensors at the heart of the ball communicate with the app via Bluetooth to play a sound through your headphones, speakers, or just the internal speaker on your phone.”
This means that you can take it anywhere there is a Bluetooth connection and create beats on the fly. It’s also pressure sensitive, so you can slam it for more intensity.
Jamming with multiple players is possible too, by connecting two or more balls to the app, choosing different sounds and plugging in a speaker.
It can also be used as a MIDI controller to modulate virtual instrument parameters within a DAW of your choice.
