Last week Ableton broke the news about Live 10, their comprehensive new update which is due to land in 2017. The feature list was seemingly endless, but aside from native Max For Live integration, users seemed to be most excited about the new built-in synth dubbed Wavetable.
A digital synth which will ship with Live 10, it’s a (you guessed it) wavetable synthesiser with what looks to be a ton of interesting features.

Brian Funk, who goes by the musical moniker AfroDJMac, is the one responsible for our first look at Wavetable. In his 41-minute video he examines a range of the synth’s features, from its basic parameters to some deeper effects later on.
The program utilises waveforms based on a number of analogue synths plus a range of other instruments. The modulation capabilities seem to be its greatest feature at first glance, meaning anyone who knows their way around a wave or two should be able to extract something juicy sounding.
