Something with Numbers

If you asked me 10 years ago what 1176, 1073, 87, 58, 47  meant I wouldn’t have had a clue. Now, they conjure up all sorts of feelings and desires. Some based on knowledge and experience and some on myth and hearsay. Most studio folk are filled with gear lust. For now I’m content with the space being complete (well almost). We’re a new studio and so our mic collection is still pretty small at around a dozen mics. My goal is probably 100 or so and I don’t mind waiting 10 years to get there. On Sunday we’ll be recording some drums and Michael requested some 421′s for the toms. He was happy to work with everything else we have. At around $400 a pop, I wasn’t in any position to buy a pair at the moment so decided to look into hiring. Glad to say at $25 it was a relief and a bargain. They’re not as pretty as the picture I found on Google but they’ll work and we’ll have some pretty wicked sounding toms by the end of the day!
