Oktava meets Enmore Audio

The very popular MK-012 small diaphragm condenser mic is one of the seven wonders of the audio world – with over 90,000 in use word wide it has been heard on countless indie and major label releases because it sounds way more expensive than it really is.
OktavaMod upgrades this studio workhorse with a special Premium Electronics component package to increase resolution, lower noise and reduce distortion while improving transient response. One of my Hollywood film sound clients recently said his OktavaMod ’012 mics sound “as good as any Neumann KM-84 set I’ve heard” (see reviews).
This is Michael Joly writing, the guy behind OktavaMod. You’re invited to contact me directly to discuss your mic needs and discover if the multi-capsule, modified MK-012 MSP6 is right for you.
On acoustic guitar for example…
…these mods allow finger and plectrum attacks to be rendered with more transient detail. Strummed rhythm work is presented with better fundamental-to-harmonic time alignment and less distortion to eliminate chordal “train wrecks”. And finally, bass frequency response is extended while its impulse response is tightened. Similar resolution improvements can be expected in drum overhead applications and other instrument recording tasks that call for small diaphragm mics.
The MK-012 MSP6 set includes six factory-matched capsules (omni, cardioid and hyper-cardioid pairs), two Premium Electronics upgraded bodies, two 10dB pads and two basic stand adapter clips all packaged in an attractive wooden jewelers case. I also include my own signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity for your modified mics.
